Tim Storey once said, "Some times you have to be left, in order to get right." Whether Karla was ever left, I have no idea, but she is definitely doing it all right now! An extraordinary multi-talented artist, Karla divides her time modeling, styling hair, as well as make-up artistry. She's worked with countless photographers and it was my privilege to be able to photograph her for the blog. Immediately, when, the production coordinator, Alex and I met her, she had this easy going, fun filled personality that lit up the space. We were most certainly outdoors, but Karla had something that most people strive to obtain. Karla had presence, and you could feel it every moment you spent with her. Not to mention she is funny. I never had a female model crack so many jokes while on a shoot. I almost couldn't keep up.
Karla's presence was something that exuded from her since our first conversation on the phone, and it was even more powerful once we were on location. She has an inner strength and confidence that changes her environment. It's easy to see she's hitting a stride in her life where she knows she can overcome any obsticle. That type of potential energy reminds me of a seed, that when planted, gives off chemicals into the soil to prepare the soil for it's own growth. As you look through her series "Right Side of the Tracks", you'll notice her in a run down industrial area of Phoenix, but her beauty and presence transforms the location and makes it something different. Karla seems to be grounded as an individual and planted in good soil, putting her right on track for success. And she is not only on track as an artist, but is on the right side of the tracks in life, living powerfully, and successfully.
